On December 16, 2021 we had the honor to present the newly elected board of the Dutch Caribbean chapter of the international security association, ASIS International during a series of introductory meetings. The board consists of chairman Mr. Aaron Antersijn, vice chairman Mr. Marlon Richardson, treasurer Mr. Urvin Werleman and the secretary Mr. Robert Candelaria. The meetings were held with both government and non-government parties in Aruba. The first meeting was with His Excellency the Governor of Aruba, Mr. Alfonso Boekhoudt where we had an in-depth presentation and discussion of what the 2022 goals are for this board to elevate the level of the security sector in the region. Secondly the board met with the Minister of Justice and Social Affairs, Mr. Rocco Tjon, where ideas were discussed how the government and the security sector can work together to collaborate on issues such as education and certification of security officers, standardization of installation of security equipment as well as how to prevent cybercrime by working together with different partners. Lastly the board met with the Ditector of Aruba Trade and Industry Association (Atia), Mr. Herrick Henriquez, and discussed how the security sector can work together with them to elevate the level and recognition of this sector in a broader sense. More discussions will be held at the beginning of the 2022. Similar meetings will be held in sister Dutch Caribbean islands with local authorities to help make and maintain our islands among the safest in the region.
